Parental/Guardian Consent Requirement
École en réseau is designed and
intended to be used in classrooms. École en réseau requires the consent of
parents or guardians as a condition for using our site, services, or
participating in activities organized for certain users when applicable law
requires it (if the student is under the legal age of consent, which is less
than 14 years old). Most educational institutions (including schools and school
service centers) have policies governing the use of third-party educational
services and products like École en réseau, addressing parental consent in
accordance with applicable legislation (including the Education Act and the Act
respecting access to documents held by public bodies and the protection of
personal information). Consequently, educational institutions, administrators,
and teachers are best positioned to obtain the required parental consent as a
condition of using our site, services, and participating in activities in
accordance with the law and the institution’s policies. When parental or
guardian consent is required, École en réseau requires that educational
institutions or teachers obtain written consent from the parents or guardians of
students when opening accounts for their students, enrolling classes in our
activities, inviting students to use our site, services, or participate in our
activities. Parental consent can be revoked, in which case any data collected by
École en réseau will be deleted.
If you are an educational
institution administrator or a teacher, by inviting
students to use our site, services, or participate in our activities, or by
creating accounts on behalf of students at your educational institution or in
your class, you confirm that you or the educational institution employing you
have obtained the necessary consent from the parents or guardians of the
students you have invited (or will invite) to use our site or services. You
further declare that the parents or guardians of each student consent to the
collection, use, and disclosure of personal information as outlined below.
We provide educational institutions,
school administrators, and teachers with the
required notices under applicable law. Additionally, upon request from an
educational institution, school administrator, or teacher who has created an
account with École en réseau for classroom use, we provide the institution with
a description of the types of personal information we collect, which provides an
opportunity to review the student’s personal information and/or request the
deletion of this information, and to prevent further use or collection of a
student's personal information online, as required by applicable law.
Collected Information
During network activities offered by
École en réseau, information is collected.
Here is a list of the items that may be collected:
-
In videoconferencing, some of the sessions are recorded to allow absent
classes to listen later. In this context, it is announced that the activity
is being recorded, and if the devices of the classes are open, the voice and
image of those who speak into the microphone during a live session are kept
in an unlisted mode and shared only with the registered classes. These
interventions may consist of providing an answer, feedback, evaluation,
explanation, or asking a question to the resource person present who is
leading the activity. These interventions help to build a common and
collective understanding related to the theme being discussed in the context
of the online activity.
-
During asynchronous work, classes are invited to post in collaborative
digital tools such as Padlet, KF, Office Suite, Google, etc. These tools are
unlisted, and the workspaces are shared only with the registered classes.
Classes are encouraged to contribute so that other participating classes can
benefit. Depending on the nature of the online activity, contributions may
take the form of texts, images, photos, videos, audio, school location, etc.
The digital tools used are named in the detailed plan for each activity.
These tools have received an "approved for use" status from the "COMSI"
service of the fiduciary CSS of ÉER (CSSFL).
-
Recordings placed in École en réseau's Google Drive or on École en réseau's
YouTube channel are kept in an unlisted mode for the duration of the school
year, after which their status is changed to private. Recordings are
scheduled for deletion after 5 years. This retention period is intended to
improve subsequent pedagogical planning and enhance the offering of online
activities. For data in collaborative tools, the collaborative spaces are
archived at the end of the school year and deleted after 5 years.
